Oh My

I realized that I have one of those today. (the voice, not the hoodie) And I found out that using my 'Teacher Voice' gives ME a headache. I would apologize to the children, but I am SO. not. sorry.

Student Teaching

Highlights of Week One:

As I was introducing myself to one of my U.S. History classes, I told them that an interesting fact about myself is that I. LOVE. SUNKIST. One kid in the back of the room asked if I like Fanta as much as Sunkist.
"NO."
"But they taste the exact same!"
"NO. THEY. DON'T!" And I a little bit glared at him.

In one of my Ancient World History classes, I was walking around the room as they were working on an assignment. I leaned down to pick up a piece of trash and a 14 year old boy cat-call whistled at me! Turned around, *Death Glare*. I don't think that will be happening again.

I 'memorized' my two U.S. History classes names, or rather, I know which seat the names belong to. I got all but one correct. Working on it!

That's about it. Haven't dived completely in yet. First day solo is this Thursday. Wish me luck!

Christmas

Christmas is about Jesus right?

I wish that we focused more on Him during the holiday. We try. Something to continually work on at our house, that's for sure. So.

Update: When Matthew and I were engaged, we bought the book I Believe in Santa Claus and have made it a point to make it our family tradition to read it each Christmas eve.  We forgot the book this year and since a 3 minute drive is obviously out of the question, as we were going to bed we tried to remember as much of the book as we could. It is a good book that shows similarities between Santa Claus and Jesus Christ. Look it up.

For Christmas, we spent the eve over at the Skabelund's. Played all of the Christmas eve games, I lost every time. I won Christmas bingo after everyone stopped playing. As per my existence. That is ok though. We 'watched' the Grinch while playing games. Then we started to watch the Polar Express, but never finished it. Thas ok.

At my parents' house, you aren't allowed to wake anyone up for Christmas. They have to wake up on their own. And you don't get to open anything until everyone is up.  At the Skabelund's, we woke up at 830. Not my favorite. Then we waited for food to be ready. Then we ate. Then was gifts. Lots of good stuff showed up this year.
My favorite:
The sign, not the socks (no offense). Matthew thought I was kidding when I told him that I wanted this. I wasn't.

The rest of the holiday was good and enjoyable.
How was your Christmas?

Wanna See Me Make 2 Stories Collide?

I'll do my best.

Psych! Ima rock this story.

STORY #1:
Once upon a time Matthew and I went on a cruise with the family in February.  While on that Aca-Awesome cruise we played Bingo and Matthew WON US ANOTHER CRUISE!!  What else could we do but take that free cruise and spend a fortune on airfare the week before Christmas?!

Seriously. So, right after finals were done, we flew out to Florida, spent the night in a hotel (also a fortune the week before Christmas), and got on the ship the next afternoon.  There was sunshine, Glorious sunshine, it was so warm and the greatest temperature, cruise ships have THE greatest food around (rivaled only maybe by Ruth's Chris), I got to have a week off from work, and with all of the humidity my hands were so soft and not cracked and bleeding. I'll just say this one more time: GLORIOUS.

We got to go to Haiti:

This picture is funny because we are being blinded.

And we got to go to Jamaica:
This is a new port that we went to.

We didn't do a whole lot more than shop on each island, we did a lot of lounging and playing 5 Crowns around the ship. But it was really relaxing to have a week off. Love it.

This huge tree was on the ship, ignore the chunky please.

STORY #2:
After we got off the ship Saturday, my bestie Whit and her Nathan picked us up!!  We got to go to the beach, do some more shopping, and ate the "best burger in Fort Lauderdale." It was actually really good, thanks to the Beach Bunnies.

It was really good to see her. I've missed her lots much. After we got to hang out for a couple hours, they dropped us off at the airport where we spent the next 14 hours (literally) of our lives sitting, waiting, and wishing and finally made it home.

Great trip. 2 stories collide. Check it.

Got Lots To Say Recently...

Most important first, Santa forgot to bring this to me...
That's ok Santa, I'll take care of it.
Seriously the most hilarious movie that I've seen lately.

Speaking of good movies, Matthew and I have seen a few lately.
List:
Les Miserables (Great, really long)
The Hobbit (So LONG, really good- I hate LOTR and still liked it)

I think that's about it. See them.
