Overheard in Primary II

Sat in a CTR7 class. Talking about the Plan of Salvation, teacher drew the Three Degrees of Glory as the sun, the moon, and stars.
One kid, "Why did you draw a banana?!" [a crescent moon]
Other kids, "Yeah, that looks like a banana."

Playing Stump the Bishop after our program, he's guessing a scripture reference.
Bishop: "... John..."
CTR4: "THE BAPTIST!"

Same game, guessing a song.
Primary President: "Jesus was chosen, and as a messiah he came..."
My CTR4: "JESUS!" [with double fist pumps]

About to take the advancing nursery kids to go sit in singing time.
Primary President: :Next year you get to go to primary! In primary we have singing time, we learn a bunch of fun songs; and we have class time with our friends!:
3YO: "That's AWESOME!"

We were just able to split back into junior and senior groups for singing time. One of our most vocal 9YO gave a talk for closing exercises. He gets up to the mic and takes a little bit to adjust it, "Do I need to tell everyone my name before I start?"
Primary President: "I think everyone in here already knows who you are, so you're ok to start."

Senior primary singing time:
Chorister: "...And, tick question, was it the same Nephi that wrote 3 & 4 Nephi that wrote 1 & 2 Nephi?"
9YO: "No. He was SOOO dead."

Sunbeam in singing time, "Can we go get pretzels now?"

Overheard in Primary (a new edition)

I'm back in Primary. Yay? Sometimes.
Kids are funny.

During Sharing Time (which no longer exists): "How can we show Heavenly Father that we are thankful for our clothes?"
Must have been a 7 year old, "By not taking them off!"

"Why was Jesus Baptized?"
"Cause He's the BEST!"
Yes.

Sat with Sunbeams one week: Sitting next to a little girl. She shows me a small rosette flower on her dress, "Look at my flower. Do you think it's cute?"
"Yes. It's very cute."

Same little girl has a twin sister, they couldn't sit next to each other without hug attacking each other. I sat between them for a couple minutes, then look at the  same one, she's got the saddest face. "I just need a hug!"
"Ok, I can give you a hug."
"I just miss my sister. I want her to come back!"
"Ok."

Things Overheard in Primary, Vol. 6

We got released from primary a couple weeks ago, cause we MOVED!
More on that later.
These are some lovelies that I found while cleaning out my bag.

Primary presidency lady, during sharing time, "What does it mean to have a 'hard heart'?"
7 year old in the back, "High cholesterol!!"

5 year old saying a prayer in our class, "Please bless that no more animals get hurt."
Me, "P, what animals are getting hurt?"
P, "Did you know that people throw stuff away in the ocean? And that hurts animals."
Me, "You're right buddy."

Same 5 year old, after I told him that we are moving and he will have a new primary teacher soon. "But why are you moving?!"
Me, "Because it is what is best for our family."
P, "It's not best for your family!"
Me, "Why not?"
P, "Because you're spending ALL your money!!!"
Me, "You're right P."

Munchkins. Silly.

Things Overheard in Primary, Vol. 5

4 year old in our class, very upset that another kid had just informed us all that he was 4, "Teacher, he stole my number!" Very upset.

4 year old girl in our class. Showing us her magic trick with a set of matching game cards. "Pick a card, any card. Now rememberize your card. Now give it back to me. I'm gonna put it in the middle of the deck..." as she is turning her back to whoever's turn it was to pick a card she started by putting it into the middle of the deck and then whipped the card back to the top of the deck. Turn back around, "Is this your card?!"

Yes. Yes it sure is.

My favorite part is that this worked on every other 4 year old.

Things Overheard in Primary, Vol. 4

- 3 year old Sunbeam: giving a talk in sharing time, with help from her mother, started talking REALLY loud into the microphone, then whispering, then REALLY loud again, then whispering again. Back and forth at least 4 times.

- 7 year old giving a prayer for sharing time: Thankful for this day, all the plants, the trees, the animals, and our friends.

- 5 year old in class. Teacher was talking about a funny animal story (her brother’s dog’s birthday party): I went to Lilydog’s party! Other teacher and me, simultaneously, ‘In Iowa? YESTERDAY?’

- 7 year old giving opening prayer for primary: Please bless we can have a good day tomorrow.

- 6 year old, during singing time, looking at pictures of different clocks – identifying a grandfather clock: It’s a VAMPIRE clock!

Things Overheard in Primary, Vol. 2

5 year old (in our class closing prayer): I hope that nobody don't get in wrecks.

5 year old (while coloring after the lesson [we were giving the people on the paper 'happy faces']): His eyes are big as EYEBALLS! I mean bowling pins! I mean BOWLING BALLS!!!

5 year old (apparently hearing about Jesus' crucifixion for the 1st time): But why did he die?
Because they killed him?
But why did they kill him?
Because they didn't like him or the things that he was doing.
That is SOOOOO SOOOOOOO MEAN!
Yeah, it is. It's not fair, is it?
NO!

Things Overheard in Primary

Sunbeam (while laying on the floor during singing time): Bow Chicka Bow Wow!

5 year old (while coloring in class {and in a Batman voice}): Get over here Tastyface!

Sunbeam (during sharing time) farted SO loud that his bumcheeks flapped on his seat- the whole room went crazy. And the primary presidency could not get them back. It was hilarious.
