LIZpod

I used my iPod for a road trip last weekend. The first time in about a year+. And as we had it on shuffle, a few (maybe more than a few) songs came on that I had to remind myself who the artist was. And I am ashamed to say that there is at least one band that I forgot existed...

The Used

Please forgive me.

Also, remember this?

I have since repented.
Kelly, please forgive me too.

Mom-venience

Being a mom of 2 littles can be difficult sometimes. I have a hard time sitting in the house all day, so I usually try to get us out for at least a little while each day. Usually this happens after lunch, which also happens to be nap time. So sometimes at least one of my munchkins will fall asleep. I'm pretty good with that. Unless I haven't actually ran the errand.

Dangit.

Because of this, I have come up with a short list of places that should probably have a drive through. For at the very least, MY convenience.

Drive through for Mom-venience, please...
- Macey's bakery, I NEED a Macey's donut anyone?
- Maverick, some days I need a fountain Sunkist. Please.
- The Post Office, for stamps and package drop off. Really.
- Any store that has carts too small to fit an infant carrier in, lookin' at you Hobby Lobby, Ross, Joann's, Dollar Tree, etc.

Do you have anything to add for your mom-venience?

Things Overheard in Primary, Vol. 6

We got released from primary a couple weeks ago, cause we MOVED!
More on that later.
These are some lovelies that I found while cleaning out my bag.

Primary presidency lady, during sharing time, "What does it mean to have a 'hard heart'?"
7 year old in the back, "High cholesterol!!"

5 year old saying a prayer in our class, "Please bless that no more animals get hurt."
Me, "P, what animals are getting hurt?"
P, "Did you know that people throw stuff away in the ocean? And that hurts animals."
Me, "You're right buddy."

Same 5 year old, after I told him that we are moving and he will have a new primary teacher soon. "But why are you moving?!"
Me, "Because it is what is best for our family."
P, "It's not best for your family!"
Me, "Why not?"
P, "Because you're spending ALL your money!!!"
Me, "You're right P."

Munchkins. Silly.

Things Overheard in Primary, Vol. 2

5 year old (in our class closing prayer): I hope that nobody don't get in wrecks.

5 year old (while coloring after the lesson [we were giving the people on the paper 'happy faces']): His eyes are big as EYEBALLS! I mean bowling pins! I mean BOWLING BALLS!!!

5 year old (apparently hearing about Jesus' crucifixion for the 1st time): But why did he die?
Because they killed him?
But why did they kill him?
Because they didn't like him or the things that he was doing.
That is SOOOOO SOOOOOOO MEAN!
Yeah, it is. It's not fair, is it?
NO!

Things Overheard in Primary

Sunbeam (while laying on the floor during singing time): Bow Chicka Bow Wow!

5 year old (while coloring in class {and in a Batman voice}): Get over here Tastyface!

Sunbeam (during sharing time) farted SO loud that his bumcheeks flapped on his seat- the whole room went crazy. And the primary presidency could not get them back. It was hilarious.

Mom Jeans

The other day I saw mom jeans that had no butt pockets. I don't understand how moms can get around without pockets.
I don't.

It Feels a Little Bit Sacreligious

But.
I think I am over Kelly Clarkson.
I can't hardly listen to her anymore.
We had a good run Kelly, 2002-2014.

Oh, Harry.

So my buddy asked me the other day what my favorite Harry Potter book was. This is literally how our conversation went....

Did I just do that? I apologize.
BUT!
The moral of the story is, I am re-reading the Harry Potter books this year.
In any order that I find them in.
So far I started the 6th, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

There may or may not be short lived 'book reviews' as I find my favorite Harry Potter book. Please bear with me.

What is your favorite Harry Potter book? Movie?

Student Teaching: 2

Second round of highlights anyone? I think so.

We were watching a movie in my Ancient World History classes the other day. I hadn't ever seen the movie before and didn't pay too much attention as I started the movie. Half an hour later my cooperating teacher came back into the room... "Is this the video about the Mongols?"
"I think.... Is that the wrong one?"
"Yeah. But its almost over."
[GAH] After he left again, I asked the children, "Why didn't anyone tell me that we weren't getting any of the answers?!" (stop movie, go to menu, find the right one, restart the movie, apologize to the children) I can only multi-task so much!

There is a girl in one of my U.S. History classes that bounces around from teacher to teacher, I get to be the lucky one to have her recently. We had a Question of the Day that was 'What would you do with $1 Million?' This lovely child's answer was that she would buy a lot of 'piggies.' A couple days later as I was walking around the room I noticed that she had a colored picture of a dinosaur on her binder, so I asked her which she liked more out of piggies or dinosaurs. She looked at me so surprised, almost gawking at me and said, "You remembered?!"
Of course I did little girl, of course I did.

In my U.S. History classes I've been moving through the current chapter really fast (inadvertently people! I'M LEARNING!) And so as I am trying to slow things down and re-evaluate we took a break from the chapter today. I let the children work on their assignments as I taught them about Groundhog Day. Why did we learn about Groundhog Day? Because. I. CAN. And tomorrow is Groundhog Day. Late last night after I got home from work I tried to find a short clip from the movie Groundhog Day to show with my mini-lesson. I was pleasantly surprised to find it on instant netflix. I found a clip and went to bed. Today when I got to the classroom and tried to get my clip up, it has suddenly become unavailable on instant netflix. FAIL. Plan B. Search youtube for a few minutes to find something appropriate and hopefully equally as entertaining (Right). I came up with this... Punxsutawney Phil.

That is all I can think of right now. All classes are mine now though. That is both good and overwhelming. If you see me and I look a little bit ragged, I probably need a hug. No pressure.

Backporch Buddy

One of my lovely friends was telling me the other day, as I was eating her ice cream, that she had gone to visit her lady doctor for the first time. Late last night as I was not sleeping, I remembered this and thought that I should have shared with her my favorite lady doctor story. Ready for it? Its a doozy...

Once upon a time I was at the lady doctor's. I reminded my doctor that lady-doctor-time-of-year was NOT my favorite time of year. She told me that it wasn't her favorite time of year either. I didn't know if she meant my time of year to come see her or her time of year to go see her own lady doctor. I prefer to think it was her own lady doctor experience. But I still think it is hilarious.

You may laugh now.

Also, on an unrelated note, its always a good day when you get to talk to your bestie:)

Pinnin'

Once upon a time I pinned a recipe for mint chocolate chip cookies- I captioned it:

"Grinch cookies. Matthew loves the grinch."

Not that I think I am cool, but it has been re-pinned 270 times. Besides that people are lazy, I wanted to see if any of them also thought that Matthew loves the grinch. They definitely did. PEOPLE, GET YOUR OWN HUSBANDS TO TALK ABOUT, please! Leave my Matthew out of it.
